Contrary to its name Buckwheat is not actually a wheat. It is a pseudo-cereal which is a type of grain which doesn’t grow on grasses but is used similarly to other cereals. Buckwheat is a nutrient dense, gluten free grain so a good option for celiac’s and people who avoid gluten in their diet for health reasons.
Buckwheat is high in nutrients and each tiny seed packs a nutritional punch packed with beneficial antioxidant flavonoids, including rutin. Buckwheat contains all the essential amino acids and complex carbohydrates as well as iron, magnesium, calcium and lots of dietary fibre.
