Black beans are another variety of beans - they are perfect to use in many Mexican dishes. Like other legumes are such a great source of fiber, protein, fiber, iron, B vitamins, potassium, magnesium and many other beneficial nutrients. They may also help to strengthen bones due to their high levels of calcium and phosphorus.

We prefer cooking with the dried versions for many reasons. They are more economical, they don't contain unnecessary advitives like sodium plus you can buy them absolutely package free this way too.

Black beans need to be soaked and then cooked for around 1-2 hours typically before you use them in recipes. Just simply pop them in the fridge to soak for a couple of days before you use them, drain and cook them up in a pot with loads of water then once cooked you can use them straight away or we like to keep cooked frozen beans in the freezer. That way they are great to use whenever you have a recipe that calls for them.
