This Wholegrain Rye is grown locally in Hawea Flat. Once milled, it is perfect to use to make your own high quality, nutritious, wholegrain rye flour. Wholegrain Rye is wheat free and a good source of ditary fibre, starch and protein. Essentail minerals and vitamins found in Rye grain include; B vitamins, vitamin E, iron, magnesium, manganese, zinc.
If you are milling/grinding your own flour and switching from refined flour to wholegrain rye increase your cooking times. Bread will be denser and more chewy, also darker in colour. It is easy to substitute whole wheat in biscuit, cracker and pastry recipes.
